Ignatianum University in Kraków (Poland), in cooperation with IBEROJUR – Instituto Iberoamericano de Estudos Jurídicos based in Porto (Portugal), cordially invites you to participate in the 1st International Scientific Conference: EcoJustice: Law in the Age of Sustainability.
The conference will take place in a hybrid format (on-site and online) on 19–20 December 2025, at Ignatianum University in Kraków (Poland).
This event will address the highly relevant and pressing issue of sustainable development from a legal perspective, while also exploring its intersection with management, economics, ecology, technology, and policy-making. Despite growing attention to sustainability in academic and policy discourse, the topic is often treated as a secondary theme at international conferences. Consequently, it rarely receives the in-depth, interdisciplinary exploration it demands.
The aim of the conference is to fill this gap by creating a platform for comprehensive and wide-ranging discussions that bring together scholars and practitioners from diverse disciplines. The organizers believe that the complexity of sustainability issues requires precisely this type of interdisciplinary approach.
An additional motivation for organizing this conference was the growing debate surrounding controversial legislative initiatives related to sustainable development within the European Union, including various directives and regulations that—while ambitious—are not always universally accepted or effectively implemented.
The conference seeks to promote a broad, international, and interdisciplinary dialogue on future regulatory frameworks related to sustainability—an area we define as EcoJustice. This concept emphasizes the need for legal tools and frameworks that better protect people and the environments they value.
The findings, insights, and conclusions drawn from the conference will be published in a post-conference monograph, aimed at inspiring legal reforms and helping to optimize the legal environment for EcoJustice.
To foster inclusive and diverse participation, the organizers welcome presentations in English (preferred), Polish, Spanish, and Portuguese.
The conference is organized in partnership with IBEROJUR – Instituto Iberoamericano de Estudos Jurídicos (Porto, Portugal), whose engagement enhances the international scope and interdisciplinary nature of the event.
The topics covered are not only timely but also foundational for future developments in both national and European legal doctrine and legislation. Ignatianum University is committed to critical reflection on law—its creation, function, and real-world impact—while remaining rooted in tradition and oriented toward the common good.

A Universidade Ignaciana de Cracóvia (Polônia), em cooperação com o IBEROJUR – Instituto Iberoamericano de Estudos Jurídicos, com sede no Porto (Portugal), tem o prazer de convidá-lo(a) a participar da 1ª Conferência Científica Internacional: EcoJustiça: Direito na Era da Sustentabilidade.
A conferência será realizada em formato híbrido (presencial e online), nos dias 19 e 20 de dezembro de 2025, na Universidade Ignaciana, em Cracóvia (Polônia).
Este evento abordará a questão altamente relevante e urgente do desenvolvimento sustentável, sob uma perspectiva jurídica, ao mesmo tempo em que explorará sua interseção com a gestão, economia, ecologia, tecnologia e formulação de políticas públicas. Apesar da crescente atenção dada à sustentabilidade nos meios acadêmicos e políticos, o tema ainda é frequentemente tratado como secundário em conferências internacionais, raramente recebendo a exploração interdisciplinar aprofundada que merece.
O objetivo da conferência é preencher essa lacuna, criando uma plataforma de discussão ampla e abrangente, reunindo acadêmicos e profissionais de diversas disciplinas. Os organizadores acreditam que a complexidade das questões relacionadas à sustentabilidade exige justamente essa abordagem interdisciplinar.
Outro fator motivador para a realização da conferência é o debate crescente em torno de iniciativas legislativas controversas relacionadas ao desenvolvimento sustentável na União Europeia, incluindo diversas diretivas e regulamentos que – embora ambiciosos – nem sempre são amplamente aceitos ou implementados de forma eficaz.
A conferência busca promover um diálogo internacional, amplo e interdisciplinar sobre os futuros marcos regulatórios da sustentabilidade, uma área que definimos como EcoJustiça. Esse conceito enfatiza a necessidade de instrumentos jurídicos e estruturas legais que protejam melhor as pessoas e os ambientes que elas valorizam.
As descobertas, ideias e conclusões da conferência serão publicadas em uma monografia pós-conferência, com o objetivo de inspirar reformas jurídicas e ajudar a otimizar o ambiente legal para a EcoJustiça.
Para promover uma participação inclusiva e diversificada, os organizadores aceitam apresentações em inglês (preferencialmente), polonês, espanhol e português.
A conferência é organizada em parceria com o IBEROJUR – Instituto Iberoamericano de Estudos Jurídicos (Porto, Portugal), cuja participação reforça o escopo internacional e o caráter interdisciplinar do evento.
Os temas tratados são não apenas atuais, mas também fundamentais para os futuros desdobramentos das doutrinas e legislações jurídicas nacionais e europeias. A Universidade Ignaciana reafirma seu compromisso com a reflexão crítica sobre o direito – sua criação, função e impacto no mundo real – mantendo-se enraizada na tradição e orientada para o bem comum.
