The focus of the Colloquium was “Law and Culture”. The general theme can easily be assigned to a trend of our time: geared towards the understanding of law in times of a progressive globalization of normative orders, one understands it going beyond the quid juris question – as a " legitimate subject of cultural studies, to understand central problems of the present’ Just as knowledge of religious worldviews and their dynamics provides an understanding of a conflict-ridden world, the law has a kind of indicative function for paths and wrong turns of a global modernity, the center of which can no longer be determined neither empirically or normatively.
