SYNOPSIS
This is, by the way, a continuation of the scientific research on the legal aspects of artificial intelligence that we are conducting jointly at AFM Kraków University and Iberojur – Instituto Iberoamericano de Estudos Jurídicos, the results of which have been already presented to the public, including in the publication LegalTech, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Legal Practice (Porto 2022). Artificial intelligence is a challenging but grateful area of research for lawyers.
This time, our legal sensibilities are reaching towards problems that seemingly appear to be far apart. In fact, the link between law and medicine, especially in connection with the possibilities of using new technologies, seems to be specifically close. Therefore, when taking up the challenge of discussing this area scientifically, we were aware of the enormity of the matter involved. We also knew that we were not in a position to discuss all the problems in this area; their diagnosis and exhaustive analysis are simply not possible. Thus, we did not discouraged, but rather brought us courage to solve this issue. Therefore, what we present today is the result of a team research on the legal problems of artificial intelligence in medicine and healthcare selected by the individual authors. We must add that the results of this research were first announced at the international scientific conference Legal aspects of artificial intelligence application in medicine and healthcare, held in Krakow in October 2022.
The scientific event that we have managed to organise has shown that a space for representatives of both legal and medical sciences, from different scientific centres, to exchange views in an international environment is necessary. With this in mind, we encourage you to read, we encourage you to discuss. The latter we hope – at least in some areas – to initiate.
